City of Whitehorse

Welcome to our TAKE2 profile page.

We’re committed to tackling climate change. That’s why we’ve made the TAKE2 pledge. Check out the work we’ve been doing to reduce our emissions and our plans for the future.

Make the TAKE2 pledge and join us in helping keep the temperature rise under two degrees.

Our pledge

Council Vision: We aspire to be a healthy, vibrant, prosperous and sustainable community supported by strong leadership and community partnerships.

By pledging its support to TAKE2, Whitehorse Council is promising to take action on climate change! It is demonstrating leadership to our local community and communicating the work that Council is already doing to address climate change.  In addition, it shows support of the State Governments target for Victoria to reach net zero emissions and keep the temperature rise to less than 2 degrees by 2050.

Whitehorse Council will also continue to work to improve its building, services and programs, as well as the resilience of the Whitehorse community, to adapt to higher temperatures and extreme weather events. This will ensure they have a reduced effect on the health and safety of the community, disruption to Council services and damage to public assets.

TAKE2 will assist to inform Council on future direction for continued climate change action and adaptation in the future. The Take2 pledge also provides an opportunity to build relationships with organisations and community groups who have pledged and to potentially work with them to engage the wider community to address climate change issues.

Council’s commitments to long term sustainability outcomes, including reductions in emissions, are outlined in the Whitehorse City Council Sustainability Strategy (2016 – 2022).
