Our pledge

At Sussex Taps, we are always looking for a better way of doing things.

That's why we believe in manufacturing sustainably by reducing our carbon footprint. Sussex components are precision engineered from solid brass rods, and we recycle the brass shavings created as a manufacturing by-product. As the only tap manufacturer with a foundry, we can melt and re-use this precious resource.

We were honoured to receive the 2017 City of Hume Sustainability Award Environmental Award and the 2015 Northern Business Achievement Awards for implementing several environmental initiatives. But we think our actions are the best demonstration of our environmental philosophy.  We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by minimising energy use, waste, and increase recycling practises at our 3 facilities on an ongoing basis. We have installed 100 kW PV system which offsets 121.7 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. We are continuing to implement Best Practise in our manufacturing methods is also always a major focus. This has led to being awarded the Young Manufacturer of the Year at the 2018 Victorian Manufacturing Awards.

From the recycled solid brass block that starts the journey of each component of our tapware, to the trained eye of our quality evaluators, to the perfection of hand polishing – ready for any builder, designer or specifier to install in their home, buildings or development.

Sussex Taps is a 2nd generation, family run business, with a passion and dedication to the process of creating beautiful taps. Our Australian Made tapware is made by artisans with a deep conviction for the details that matter.

Investing in energy efficiency at Sussex Taps video

Sussex was successful in receiving funding from Sustainability Victoria's Smarter Resources Smarter Business program to replace inefficient lighting with LED lighting throughout its main workshop. This led to 15% reduction in factory energy use. The success of this project has also led to replacing all the inefficient lighting in the foundry and the polishing plants with LED lighting which led to a 10% energy reduction for these sites.  We upgraded our foundry cooling system which reduced cooling energy use by 90% and also led to 10% productivity gain in our brass melting process.
