Our pledge

PonyUp for Good is a social enterprise, committed to promoting environmental change and helping businesses achieve their sustainability and social impact targets.

The two core reasons why PonyUp is committed to climate change action are clear:

  1. Australians send over 20 million tonnes of technology into landfill every year. By adopting a 'reuse first' strategy, we can slow down the churn and give decommissioned tech up to another seven years of life
  2. We also send a cool 8 billion dollars of fresh food into landfill every year...while more than two million people in Australia go hungry every day

PonyUp takes your company's donated, decommissioned technology, once its been through its depreciation cycle. We data cleanse it using Department of Defence processes and on-sell them, providing affordable devices to folk in developing countries.

The MAJOR KICKER - PonyUp donates 50% of profits to the caped crusaders of food rescue, 'SecondBite' - who last year rescued 10 million kgs of fresh food, redistributing it to over 1300 national food programs throughout Australia. That's over 55,000 healthy meals every day to families and individuals who are really doing it tough.

HINTS & TIPS: For your company's device reuse & ewaste recycling strategy:

    1. Ensure that your organisation has an up-to-date 'Asset Register' containing all of your organisations devices and when they are due to be decommissioned and updated
    2. Leverage the value of your decommissioned technology by turning it into healthy meals for people who are food insecure across Australia
    3. Ensure your organisation is not hoarding used/surplus technology for just incase. Used devices are like melting chocolate - the longer they sit in storage, the less likely it is they can be re-used - and the more likely it will be that they may end up as landfill
    4. Did you know that your old devices can be re-used in developing countries for up to another seven years, for such things as education aids in schools and to help small business owners run their day to day.
    5. Lockable device donation cages & bins can be placed in your company and removed once full - its that easy
    6. Material recycling can theoretically save 20-25% of the production energy, mainly by avoiding primary production of the metals recovered
    7. Sustainability & CSR Reporting can be provided to advise you of your waste from landfill levels (reused & recycled) and how many fresh meals your organisation contributed to
